This Bavarian Apple Tart recipe was given to me by my sister-in-law Vicki many years ago. You can also make it with blueberries. If you have a food processor, this recipe is very quick to prepare.

To make the crust, cream the butter and sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Stir in vanilla. Add flour, baking powder and mix well. Spread on the bottom and up the sides of a greased deep 9-in. tart pan with a removable bottom (or a springform pan). Bake in a preheated 400ËšF oven for 8 -10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.
To make the filling, combine the cream cheese, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Pour evenly over pastry.
To make the apple topping, combine the apples, sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl. Arrange apples decoratively over top.
Bake at 400ËšF for 8 minutes. Reduce temperature to 375ËšF and continue baking for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool before removing from the pan.
Refrigerate.
Remove from refrigerator at least 30 minutes prior to serving.
