This Bavarian Apple Tart recipe was given to me by my sister-in-law Vicki many years ago. You can also make it with blueberries. If you have a food processor, this recipe is very quick to prepare.

Pastry
 ¾ cup butter, softened
 ½ cup sugar
 ½ tsp vanilla
 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
 ½ tsp baking powder
Cream Cheese filling
16 oz cream cheese, softened (16 ounces is two 8oz packages)
 ¼ cup sugar
 5 eggs
 ¼ tsp vanilla
 3 cups thinly sliced apples
 ⅓ cup sugar
 1 tsp cinnamon
1

To make the crust, cream the butter and sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Stir in vanilla. Add flour, baking powder and mix well. Spread on the bottom and up the sides of a greased deep 9-in. tart pan with a removable bottom (or a springform pan). Bake in a preheated 400˚F oven for 8 -10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.

2

To make the filling, combine the cream cheese, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Pour evenly over pastry.

3

To make the apple topping, combine the apples, sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl. Arrange apples decoratively over top.

4

Bake at 400˚F for 8 minutes. Reduce temperature to 375˚F and continue baking for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool before removing from the pan.

5

Refrigerate.

6

Remove from refrigerator at least 30 minutes prior to serving.
